The American bass, Robert Crawford Ludden, studied voice under Jess Weston and sang in many church choirs and choruses in the Binghamton area, he sang in the Choral Society as a bass soloist under Dr. Fritz Walenburg, Broome Community College, SUNY Binghamton, the IBM Glee Club and the Welch Choral. He also sang duets with his wife, Marian, in choirs and choruses locally and briefly in Europe with the travelling First Presbyterian Choir of Endicott. He was employed at IBM for forty years, retiring as a Staff Engineer and a member of the IBM Quarter Century Club.
After retirement, both Robert and Marian Ludden turned to fine arts painting, studying under Ernestine Bucking and Marian Simpson. He was a member of The Fine Arts Society of the Southern Tier and had his work shown locally and around the state in Hospitals, libraries, town halls, senior centers, banks, industrial plants and outdoor shows. He had volunteered his time to the American Red Cross and the Meals on Wheels program. He passed away on January 3, 2015, at the age of 85. |
