The Canadian bass, Bryan Martin, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Conducting (Class of 1985) and his Master of Music degree (Clsss of 1989), both from the University of Toronto.
Bryan Martin, has been active in the Toronto choral and early music scenes for 35 years. He has been Bass Section Lead at Deer Park United Church (June 1984-December 2000); Bass Section Lead at St. Thomas's Anglican Church (1994-July 2014); Researcher at Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (1999-2000); Former Occasional bass chorister at The Choir of St. James Cathedral (2016-2020); Bass at Opus 8 (since June 2019). He is a founding member (Vocalist/Instrumentalist) of Sine Nomine Ensemble for Medieval Music (since 1991). He has appeared on stage with Poculi Ludique Societas (medieval drama), Toronto Masque Theatre, and in November will be part of Soundstreams’ production of Two Odysseys, a double bill of indigenous-language operas (Cree and Sami).
In his spare time Bryan Martin works on audiovisual media preservation at the University of Toronto Music Library (since January 2001), where he is also a cataloguer and the resident technology and early music geek. He currently lives in Ajax, Ontario. |
