Eleanor Mayerfeld (Soprano)

Born: November 6, 1997 - Madison, Wisconsin, USA

The American soprano, violinist and music teacher, Eleanor Mayerfeld, obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from Middlebury College (September 2015-Januar 2020), where she was an active member of the early music and chamber ensemble Middlebury Collegium Musicum and a featured soloist at the Middlebury Bach Festival; and her Master of Music degree in Vocal Studies at Longy School of Music of Bard College (September 2022-May 2024), where she was the Robert and Esta Equity Scholar and studied under Angela Gooch for a Master of Music in Vocal Studies.

Eleanor Mayerfeld recently made her operatic lead role debut as Susanna in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro at the Miami Music Festival, where she was hailed for her “free, clear top range and finely pointed phrasing” (South Florida Classical Review). She currently tours the upper Midwest as Pamina in Opera for the Young’s adaptation of W.A. Mozart's The Magic Flute. She has also performed, Gretel in Longy’s production of Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, and Papagena in MassOpera’s reimagined production of W.A. Mozart's The Magic Flute. Concert soloist appearances include Caccini’s Alme luci beate and Vedrò’l mio sol (Middlebury Bach Festival), Strauss’s Saüsle, liebe Myrthe (AIMS-Graz), and the world premiere of Salve Regina, a commission from the Middlebury Commun ity Chorus by Ukrainian composer Dmytro Malyi dedicated to Ukraine and its people who are suffering from the brutal Russian invasion.

Eleanor Mayerfeld is also an accomplished fiddler. At fifteen years old, she was crowned Grand Fiddling Champion at the Wisconsin State Fair. She continues to perform jazz, klezmer, and Americana in the folk cabaret band Elm Duo. One of her most exciting recent projects with the Elm Duo was writing and performing The Green Cousin, a folk ballet created with Kanopy Dance for the 2022 Fermentation Fest in Sauk County, Wisconsin..

Eleanor Mayerfeld has been employed as Chorus Member at Madison Opera (September 2021-May 2022); Voice Teacher at MAVEN Vocal Arts (January-June 2022); Teaching Artist at Cambridge Rindge and Latin School (October 2022-May 2023); Teaching Artist at Somerville High School (since September 2023); Graduate Teaching Fellow at Boston City Singers (since September 2023). She currently lives in Madison, Wisconsin.
