The American lyric baritone, Ryan Mewhorter, studied Vocal performance at Ithaca College (September 2015-May 2017). He obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Syracuse University (2017-2019), where he was a member of Syracuse University Singers; and his Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Boston University (August 2020-May 2022), where he was Teachers Assistant, received the Voice Departmental Award, was invited to join the prestigious Music Honor Society by a panel of Faculty, and performed in several operas and participated in master-classes.
Ryan Mewhorter currently serves as the Program Manager for the Entrepreneurial Musicianship Department at New England Conservatory in Boston, Massachusetts (since October 2022). Responsibilities include, liaising with community partners to create internship opportunities for students, meeting individually and in group settings for career advising, website development, and grant consulting. He oversees a robust grant program that gives $30,000 annually for student and alumni projects. While overseeing the grant program, he has created and lead grant panels consisting of staff and faculty, collected applications via Slideroom, and served as the grant officer to aid students and alumni as they complete their projects. Additionally, he has launched an instagram account for the department to better advertise department offerings to the student body, creates a weekly newsletter, as well as design graphic advertisements that are shared on campus. Since July 2024, he is also Executive Director at Boston Singers' Resource.
Ryan Mewhorter has worked in a variety of capacities throughout Boston. He has sung with the Boston University Opera Institute, where he has been seen performing in roles such as Don Alfonso from W.A. Mozart's Cosi Fan Tutte and Charles Babbage in The Infinite Energy of Ada Lovelace. He has performed with the Prague Summer Nights, and Syracuse University Opera Workshop. He has sung on Boston stages such as Symphony Hall, Sanders Theater, Jordan Hall, and Booth Theater. In addition to Opera Performances, he sings with the semi professional choir, Cantata Singers in Boston and serves as the Baritone Section leader at All Saints Parish in Brookline, Massachusetts. He currently lives in Boston, Massachusetts. |
