The Armenian teno, Aram Mikaelyan, initially studied concert singing at the Yerevan Conservatory in Armenia and subsequently completed a diploma in vocal performance at the Hochschule für Musik in Detmold.
Even during his studies in Detmold, Aram Mikaelyan was engaged by the Oper Bonn for the opera chorus, where he also performed as a soloist in numerous roles, including in Mussorgsky's The Fair at Sorochyntsi, W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, and Verdi's La traviata. He also frequently performs as a soloist in concert repertoire, for example as the Evangelist in J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion BWV 244, Johannes-Passion BWV 245, and Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248, in George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Haydn's The Creation, and W.A. Mozart's Requiem.
Aram Mikaelyan has been a permanent member NDR Vokalensemble (Director: Klaas Stok) since July 2013. He also regularly performs solo roles there and, among other things, appeared as a soloist in Leoš Janáček's "Our Father" at the Elbphilharmonie in 2021. |
