The Taiwanese soprano, Kaiyi Min, studied there at Tainen Theological College and Seminary in Taiwan, where she obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree in Church Music in 2004. In 2005 she came to Europe to study study Solo Singing with Yvonne Schiffelers and Choral Conducting with Ludo Claessen at the Conservatorium van Maastricht. She successfully completed both studies: a Master's degree in Solo Singing and a Bachelor's degree in Choral Conducting. In 2017 she took private lessons with Brian Masuda. After her studies she participated in various singing competitions. She won the first prize in the Arts-music Competition, the Student Music Competition and the Taiwanese Music Competition. In 2009 she won an Honorable Mention Award in the New Tang Dynasty Television Singing competition in New York. She was also awarded the Audience Award in 2009 by the Stichting Nederlandse Vocalisten Presentation. In 2014 she was awarded as a classic music young star by the National Theater and Concert Hall, Taipei, Taiwan.
Kaiyi Min made her debut in 2007 with the Limburgs Symfonie Orkest conducted by Ed Spanjaard in a production by Opera Zuid as Prima Conversa in Suor Angelica by Puccini. Invitations followed at Barokensemble Ribattuta musica conducted by Andreas Küppers, Het Gelders Orkest conducted by Joop Schets and the Koninklijke Marinierskapel conducted by Harmen Cnossen in a work for soprano and wind orchestra composed especially for her voice. She is also a soprano soloist in oratorios, including J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion BWV 244, George Frideric Handel's Messiah, Haydn's Die Schöpfung and Jahreszeiten and Orff's Carmina Burana are in her repertoire. |
