The Spanish tenor, Jorge Navarro Colorado, obtained his Postgraduate degree in Music: vocal and opera with Distinction from the Royal Welsh College of Music & Drama (September 2007-July 2009); his Master of Music degree in Classical Singing & Opera from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London (2009-2010); and graduated from the Opera Course at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama (2010-2012). He is a Britten-Pears alumnus and a Samling Artist. Awards include the Manning Tenor Prize 2008, Monmouth Choral Society Prize 2009, the Garsington Chorus Award 2010 , finalist in the Oxford Lieder Competition 2012 and semifinalist in the Handel Competition 2013 and in the Bach Singers Prize 2013. He was the tenor recipient of the BecaBach 2015 in Barcelona, the Gil-Rodríguez award for his excellent and valuable contribution to Opéra de Baugé 2016, the first Audition Oracle role preparation award in 2017 for his debut as Berengario in George Frideric Handel's Lotario, at the Göttingen International Händel Festival under the baton of Laurence Cummings, and the Help Musicians UK transmission fund 2018.
Among his performances in up to 2020-2021 season, noteworthy roles include Eliates in Reinhard Keiser's Crésus with Ensemble Diderot in Paris, the title role in Falla's El Retablo de Maese Pedro with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales and conductor Ryan Bancfroft at the Handel Festival in Göttingen, the title role in Carissimi's Jonas with English Touring Opera, Damon in Acis and Galatea at the Handel Festival in London, Emilio in G.F. Handel's Partenope at Iford Opera, Don Ottavio in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni in London, Settimio in Nicola Porpora's L'Agrippina with Barber Opera in Birmingham and Gualtiero in Antonio Vivaldi's Griselda with Irish National Opera under the baton of Peter Whelan. He also sang with Israel Camerata Orchestra Jerusalem, Irish Baroque Orchestra, Israel Chamber Orchestra and song recitals for voice and piano at prestigious festivals such as the London Song Festival, Ciclo de Lied de Santiago and Sociedad de Conciertos de Alicante.
During the 2021-2022 season, Jorge Navarro Colorado performed numerous Handelian roles: Damon in Acis and Galatea with Early Opera Company and Christian Curnyn, Oronte in Alcina with Lautten Compagney Berlin, Lurcanio in Ariodante at the Handel Festival in Göttingen, Petrus in Brockes Passion, HWV 48 (staged version) at the Opera in Halle, Tempo in Il Trionfo del Tempo e del Disinganno with Bach Consort Wien. He also made his debut at La Fenice in Venice as Gualtiero in A. Vivaldi's Griselda under the baton of Diego Fasolis, and participated in the Handel Festival in London with the Baroque aria recital Arias for Ballino, alongside the Baroque orchestra Opera Settecento.
In the 2022-2023 season, Jorge Navarro Colorado performed as Goffredo in G.F. Handel's Rinaldo with Capella Cracoviensis and Xavier Sabata at the Handel Festival in Halle, Bajazet in G.F. Handel's Tamerlano with English Touring Opera, Lelio in G.F. Handel's Scipione with Christian Curnyn at the Handel Festival in London, and made his debut at the Grand Théâtre de Genève as Telemaco in Monteverdi's Il Ritorno d'Ulisse under the direction of Fabio Biondi, including two concerts of the same work at the Auditorio Nacional de Madrid and the Palau de la Música Catalana in Barcelona. He also performed W.A. Mozart's Requiem with the OBC and Trevor Pinnock at L'Auditori in Barcelona, venue in which he also sang The Messiah, the modern-day premiere of Terradellas' Giuseppe Riconosciuto with Vespres d'Arnadí at the Torroella Festival, and various concerts of early music with Göteborg Baroque in Sweden.
Engagements in 2023-2024 included G.F. Handel's The Messiah with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Bilbao conducted by Aarón Zapico and with the Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla at the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, Igor Stravinsky's Pulcinella with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales, G.F. Handel's Alcina (Oronte) in Berlin with Lautten Compagney Berlin, Haydn’s Die Schöpfung with the Orquestra Simfònica de Barcelona i Nacional de Catalunya (OBC) at the Palau de la Música Catalana Barcelona, and with the Orquesta Barroca de Sevilla at the Semana de Música Religiosa de Cuenca, La Vida Breve by Falla with ADDA Simfònica conducted by Miquel Ortega at ADDA Auditorium in Alicante, Monteverdi’s L’Incoronazione di Poppea at the Grange Festival in England with La Nuova Musica and David Bates, and Tempo in Il Ritorno del Tempo e del Disinganno by G.F. Handel with Early Opera Company at the Buxton Festival.
In the 2024-2025 season Jorge sings Il Ritorno d'Ulisse and Dido and Aeneas with Accademia Bizantina (Director: Ottavio Dantone/Pizzi) at the Ravenna Festival, Goffredo in Rinaldo (1731) at the Karlsruhe Handel Festival with Rinaldo Alessandrini, Welcome to All the Pleasures at Brecon Baroque Festival, Vesi's Magnificat with Göteborg Baroque, Momentos Estelares del Barroco Europeo at Barcelona's Palau de la Musica Catalana (PMC), Terradellas' Giuseppe Riconosciuto with Vespres d'Arnadí at PMC and the Auditorio Nacional in Madrid, The Christmas Story with Arcangelo (Director: Jonathan Cohen) in Antwerp, Cambridge and the Wigmore Hall in London, and Alessandro Scarlatti's La Santissima Annunziata with Europa Galante (Director: Fabio Biondi) as part of the Halle Handel Festival.
