He has established high expectations for his young and emerging vocal career.
As a soloist, Matthew Nedvin has performed with the St. Andrew’s Chamber Orchestra, the Eastman Repertory Singers, and the Northwest Georgia Winds. He appeared most recently as a soloist with the Eastman Repertory Singers to perform Haydn’s Requiem in C. Asked by NWGA Winds director Sam Baltzer, who previously had worked with Matthew’s father and fellow tenor Brian Nedvin, Matthew appeared two consecutive years to perform music of the British Isles in their Across the Big Pond concert. In June 2017, he gave a recital of American music with pianist Jennifer Williams in Rome, Georgia and Dalton, Georgia. He has also sung in the services of several faiths, particularly relishing his duties as cantor for Congregation Rodeph Sholom’s High Holy Day services. Fully engrossed in both chamber and large ensembles, Matthew Nedvin has performed with dozens of community, school, and professional ensembles. While he performs regularly with the Eastman Chorale, Matthew has also performed with Voices professional chamber choir under the baton of William Weinert. From performing with Voices, he discovered a love for German chamber music; he has since sought out further opportunity, including a Bach cantata in September 2016 and in March 2017 collaborated with his colleagues in the complete presentation of J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244), conducted by David Chin.
A dedicated actor as well as singer, Matthew Nedvin has relished performing in a variety of plays and musicals. His compellingly genuine and nuanced interpretation of a selection from Jodi Picoult’s The Pact won him fourth place state-wide in the GA Literary Men’s Dramatic Interpretation competition. In 2014, Matthew brought his passion for theater to the Roman Court retirement home in Rome, GA for an evening of musical theatre song in collaboration with bass Avery Harris.
Beside singing in St. Matthew Passion, Matthew Nedvin hopes to pursue his love of German music by studying German Lieder, poetry, and language in Graz, Austria at the American Institute of Musical Studies (AIMS) program six weeks in summer 2017. |
