The American bass-baritone, voice teacher, actor and composer, Richard Franklin Nicklaus, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree from Upsala College and his Bachelor of Science degree in in voice from Julliard School of Music in New York City.
Richard Nicklaus was a Naval Aviator, serving during World War II in the South Pacific and occupied China, and flew in the Naval Reserve for many years. He had a long career as a concert and opera singer, and singing teacher. He was a State Farm insurance agent until his retirement. He was a long-time member of the Ridgewood Gilbert & Sullivan Opera Company, and was heard in many roles, having joined the group in 1957.
Richard Nicklaus of Midland Park, New Jersey died on June 5, 2002, at the age of 79. Formerly of Orange, New Jersey. Father of Patricia of Los Angeles, California and Catherine of New York City; brother of Janet Bush of Baltimore, Maryland, and Marjory Merwin of East Hartford, Connecticut; second cousin of Jack Nicklaus of whom he was very fond and proud; "Uncle Voce" to many. |
