The Australian bass-baritone, Aidan O'Donnell, is a passionate and animated performer whose love for storytelling is conveyed through his singing. He obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Classical Voice Performance from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music under the tutelage of David Greco (2018-2021). He is now undertaking a Masters of Opera Performance in Sydney also under the tutelage of David Greco.
Aidan O'Donnell has participated and performed in a range of performances and positions including as a choral scholar at St James King Street (2018-2023). His current positions is as a Lay Clerk at St James King Street and St Paul’s College, and deputy Lay Clerk at St Mary’s Cathedral. Other notable music organisations he has worked with include the Australian Brandenburg Orchestra as a featured artist and chorister, and The Song Company as an associate artist.
As well as choral singing, Aidan O'Donnell has been a part of many performance productions, master-classes and competitions from a young featuring as a soloist. Some examples include participating in musicals and eisteddfods in high school. Most notably, he attended and participated in the Melbourne international Festival for Lieder and Art Song in 2019 conducted by Professor Graham Johnson. He played the role of The Judge in the Musgrove Opera show Pinocchio in 2018 and on tour in 2019. In 2020 and 2021, he was awarded as a finalist in the Demant Dreikurs Song Competition and was honoured to feature as part of the young stars of Australian Opera in the Carols in the Domain in consecutive years. Most recently, he performed in the second Musgrove Opera production, Engelbert Humperdinck' Hansel and Gretel, as the father. Since 2022, he is a member of the Castalia Vocal Consort. In 2023, he became a full member of the Choir of St James' King Street. He currently lives in Sydney, Australia. |
