The Dutch baritone, Ruben Olthof, has been involved with music from a young age. Since 1999, he has been a member of the Koorschool Midden-Gelderland, which is led by conductor and composer Albert Wissink. There, he learned to sing at an early age, but also received attention for solfège and music theory, among other things. Later, within this foundation, he was given the opportunity to develop as a soloist. He obtained his Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering (September 2012-July 2015) and his Master of Science degree in Construction Management and Engineering (August 2015-June 2018) from the Universiteit Twente. In 2014, he also completed a minor in Classical Singing at the ArtEZ Conservatorium in Enschede (2014-2015). There, he received singing lessons from Elena Vink, with whom he continues to study.
Ruben Olthof has performed renowned roles in J.S. Bach's Matthäus-Passion BWV 244 and Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248, and George Frideric Handel's Messiah. However, he also performed musical theatre productions with the Koorschool Midden-Gelderland, including Albert Wissink's Ko Zwaluw (as: Mayor), a Dutch adaptation of Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel (as: Peter, broom-maker) and Anatevka (as: Leiser Wolf).
As a civil engineer, Ruben Olthof has worked at EMVI-coördinator (August 2018-April 2022); and at KWS Infra in Northeast Netherlands (Tender Manager since April 2022). |
