The German mezzo-soprano, Luzia Ostermann, studied singing as her main artistic subject at the Robert Schumann- Hochschule in Düsseldorf with Professor Anja Paulus (2018-2023). She has been an academic of the WDR Rundfunkchor Köln since August 2023. The focus of her studies is on Lieder in Professor Hans Eijssackers' Lied composition class and the performance of a wide variety of choral music in the university's vocal ensembles and oratorio projects.
In the recent opera production of the Robert Schumann- Hochschule she was also seen as L'enfant in M. Ravel's L'enfant et les sortilèges and as Ciesca in G. Puccini's Gianni Schicchi (Music Director: Thomas Gabrisch, Staging: Gregor Horres). She has also been able to gain stage experience alongside her studies. In the field of acting and musical theater, engagements have taken her as a singer in the production of Alkestis under the direction of Johan Simons at the Schauspielhaus Bochum and the Amphitheater von Epidauros, as Fekluscha in L. Janáček's Katja Kabanova (ML: Axel Kober, I: Tatjana Gürbaca) at the Deutsche Oper am Rhein and as the Dritter Knabe in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (ML: Yorgos Ziavras, I: Kobie Van Rensburg) at the Theater Krefeld und Mönchengladbach. In January 2023, she could be seen both as a singer and in speaking roles at the Theater Wuppertal in the drama production of F.G. Lorca's Die Bluthochzeit by (Staging: Peter Wallgram). Most recently, she sang the choir part in the world premiere of Lucia Ronchetti's Das fliegende Klassenzimmer at the Oper am Rhein in Duisburg (ML: Patrick Chestnut, I: Ilaria Lanzino).
Luzia Ostermann is also active as a singing teacher and has been the director of an annual children's musical production in her hometown of Meerbusch since 2019. She currently lives in in Düsseldorf, Germany. |
