The Australian tenor, Joshua Oxley, obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance from the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (2012-2016). During studies at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, he won a place in the inaugural ESTIVO Summer School in Verona, Italy. At the Sydney Eisteddfod, he has twice been the recipient of the Ronald Dowd Memorial Prize, Finalist in the Opera and Arts Vocal Final, Semi-finalist in the Opera Scholarship, 2nd Place in the Joan Sutherland Memorial Prize (21-25). He was also awarded the 2016/17 BBM Scholarship for Music and won the Joan Carden Award in 2017.
Joshua Oxley is based in Sydney, Australia, where he is a singer at Opera Australia since February 2018. His operatic roles include Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (Sydney Conservatorium), Don Ottavio in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni (Opera Hunter), Alfredo in Verdi's La Traviata (Opera New England), Jenik in Smetana's The Bartered Bride (Rockdale Opera Company), Mozart in (Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov's Mozart and Salieri (Bare Bones Opera), Sam Polk in Floyd's Susannah (Opera New England), Remendado in Georges Bizet Carmen (Opera New England), Pane in Cavalli's La Calisto (Sydney Conservatorium), Tchaplitsky in Tchaikovsky's Pique Dame (Sydney Symphony Orchestra), and Frederic in Sullivan's Pirates of Penzance (Chatswood Musical Society). His roles in Opera Australia have included: Count Almaviva in The Barber of Seville (Schools Tour, 2019), Balthasar Zorn in Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg (2018), Tamino in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (2018).
He has been tenor soloist for St. Andrew’s Cathedral (George Frideric Handel's Messiah; J.S. Bach's Cantatas BWV 4, BWV 62, BWV 80, BWV 115, BWV 140) and has sung as a lay clerk and deputy at St Andrew’s Cathedral (March 28, 2014-2018), St Mary’s Cathedral, and St James King St. Other major solo concert performances include Rossini's Stabat Mater, W.A. Mozart's Requiem, J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion BWV 245, Rossini's Petite Messe Solennelle, and Leonard Bernstein's Mass (Conservatorium Centenary). |
