The German mezzo-soprano and singing teacher, Arnhild Plath, was born and raised in Thuringia. As a child she joined the piano lesson and singing lessons. She studied at the Hochschule für Musik "Franz Liszt" in Weimar, graduating in 1996 as singer and vocal pedagogue.
Since 1996 Arnhild Plath is active as singer and vocal pedagogue in Meiningen and Leipzig. Her first engagement was at Staatstheater Meiningen. In addition to the opera, the concert and Lieder singing was always important to her. In addition to solo duties, the ensemble and choral work have given her an impressive experience in teaching; especially the co-operation with well-known conductors was influential for her. For example with Herbert Blomstedt, Kyrill Petrenko, Riccardo Chailly or Morten Schuldt-Jensen.
Arnhild Plath has participated in international music festivals, such as as the Lucerne Festival, Bachfest Leipzig, Händelfestspielen Halle, Rheingau Musikfestival, and Musikfestspielen Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. She has been a member of several vocal ensembles, such as the GewandhausKammerchor, Collegium Vocale Leipzig (Director: Michael Schönheit) or Immortal-Bach-Ensemble. She has also participated in various CD and DVD recordings for labels like Decca, Deutsche Grammophon, Naxos and RCA.
Arnhild Plath is also active as a singing teacher and voice trainer, using her rich experiences as a singer. She was invited as a jury member to various regional singing competitions. Since 2007, she is also a certified Kundalini yoga teacher. She regularly takes part in advanced training in this field, and has added another technique to the practice program that is also very effective in singing: Breathwalk. Thus, the areas of singing, yoga and breathwalk complement each other. She is a member of the Bund Deutscher Gesangspädagogen (Association of German Singing Educators) and of Internationalen Yoga Verein 3HO und IKYTA. She regularly gives education seminars. She currently lives in Erfurt, Thuringia. |
