Gregor Ravnik (Tenor)

Born: Ankaran, Slovenia

The Slovene tenor, Gregor Ravnik, began his musical journey at an early age when he developed a deep love for music and singing. He is a student of the Ljubljana Faculty of Medicine and was part-time student of solo singing at the Ljubljana Academy of Music under the mentorship of Associate Professor Pija Brodnik. He took part in numerous national and international singing competitions and always ranked near the top.

Gregor Ravnik has established himself as one of the most versatile and promising academic solo singers in the region, specializing in pop and opera music. After finishing his studies at the music academy, where he focused on opera singing, he expanded his knowledge and talent to pop music as well, which led to a unique combination of two very different musical genres.

At the end of 2014 Gregor Ravnik sang the solo part in the world premiere of the opera War and Peace by Larry Coryell at Ljubljana’s Cankar Hall, and followed up his performance when the opera toured in Nova Gorica, Zagreb, and Russia in 2015. In July 2015, he sang a solo part in Monteverdi’s Vespers in Ljubljana. In 2016 he sang a solo part in J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion BWV 245 under the mentorship of Professor Marko Vatovec and appeared in the children’s opera Brundibar at Ljubljana’s Cankar Hall in January 2017. In April 2017, he sang a solo part in L.v. Beethoven's Fantiasia for piano, chorus and vocal soloists at Cankar Hall under the baton of maestro En Shao. In May 2017 he appeared at Cankar Hall as Quinto in Benjamin Britten's The Turn of the Screw, accompanied by students of the Ljubljana Academy of Music.

In February 2024, Gregor Ravnik released his first pop album, which represents a turning point in his career. The album, named "Med nama", includes both songs with which he won at Slovenian music festivals, as well as completely new, fresh compositions. With this album, he not only shows his versatility as an artist, but also brings a fresh approach to pop and opera music. With the release of the album "Med nama", he embarks on a presentation tour with an excellent band, where he will have the opportunity to present his work to a wider audience. The tour is an opportunity for him to further consolidate his position on the Slovenian music scene and present his unique musical expression.

Gregor Ravnik 's musical journey is a story of innovation, passion and unwavering dedication to art. His ability to interweave different musical styles not only enriches the Slovenian music scene, but also inspires young musicians to follow their dreams and explore different musical genres.
