The German counter-tenor, Peter Rehkop, studied at Hannover's and Hamburg´s Hochschule für Musik. As a counter-tenor his teachers are Ralf Popken and Wilfried Jochens. By winning the "Villa Musica-Prize" in 2002 he took part in master-classes held by Andreas Scholl.
Starting in a vocal-ensemble Peter Rehkop gave his solo-operatic debut in 1999 in a contemporary opera by K. Tchemberdji, followed by Der Konsul (Menotti), John Blow's Venus and Adonis (2002) and Henry Purcell's Dido and Aeneas (2002). The festival of Ambronnay / France gave him the opportunity to work with Paul McCreesh. In 2004 he appeared for the first time at Komische Oper Berlin in the production of Pastorelle en musique by Telemann.
Meanwhile Peter Rehkop is a busy opera- and concert singer with performances in the Netherlands, Great Britain, France and Germany. Of course, the focus is on baroque and Early music. But his next performance will be Gormenghast a modern "fantasy opera" in Saarbrücken and Luxembourg. His operatic repertory includes even operetta-roles. |
