Dorothee Risse-Fries (Soprano)

Born: Germany

The German soprano, Dorothee Risse-Fries, studied vocal pedagogy and concert singing at the Musikhochschule Köln and Musikhochschule Hamburg with Reinhard Becker and Judith Beckmann. Several scholarships and awards, including those from the Alfred Toepfer Stiftung Hamburg, Nordrhein-Westfälischen Wirtschaft, and the Bach Bach-Förderpreis der Musikhochschule Hamburg, recognize Dorothee Risse-Fries as an accomplished singer.

Since her days as a student in Hamburg (August 1994), Dorothee Risse-Fries has been engaged as a soprano in the then NDR Chor (now: NDR Vokalensemble). She has a particular passion for Lied and oratorio. She has performed internationally in this field, interpreting major oratorio works at venues such as the Tokyo Metropolitan Art Space, Westminster Hall in London, and the Tonhalle Zürich.
