Cecília Rodrigues (Soprano)

Born: Oeiras, Portugal

The Portuguese soprano, Cecília Rodrigues Ribeiro, was awarded in several competitions, with emphasis on the 1st Prize at the Almada International Competition (2015) and the 1st Prize for Singing at the Young Musicians Award – Antena 2 – RTP (2017).

In the field of oratorio, Cecília Rodrigues was a soloist in several works, including Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater, J.S. Bach's Magnificat in D major BWV 243, David Perez' Mattutino de' Morti, W.A. Mozart's Exultate Jubilate and Mass in C minor, Francisco Sá Noronha's Mass in A and Mass in B flat, Camille Saint-Saëns' Oratorio de Noël, Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, Johannes Brahms' Ein deutsches Requiem, Mansurian's Requiem and Eurico Carrapatoso's Magnificat em Talha Dourada. She performed in recitals, with maestro João Paulo Santos, at Palácio da Pena, at the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian and at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos. In a symphonic concert, she premiered Linhagem by Eurico Carrapatoso.

In the field of opera, Cecília Rodrigues performed: Rosina in G. Rossini's Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Escola Superior de Música de Lisboa (2018); Euridice in J. Offenbach's Orphée aux Enfers in Maputo (2019); Stéphano in Charles Gounod's Roméo et Juliet, directed by Lorenzo Viotti (2019); 2nd Shepherdess, 1st Witch, 2nd Woman and 2nd Nereid in H. Purcell's Dido and Aeneas (2020) under the direction of Maxim Emelyanychev at the Fundação Calouste Gulbenkian. Recently, she also performed the role of Kitchen Boy, in A. Dvořák's Rusalka, at the Teatro Nacional de São Carlos, under the baton of maestro Graeme Jenkins (April 2021). She married Domingos Ribeiro on October 16, 2021 and currently lives in Oeiras, Portugal.
