Alison Rose (Soprano)

Born: East London, England

The English soprano, Alison Rose, made her first forays into music making through the Redbridge Music Service. She subsequently went on to undergraduate studies at the Royal Northern College of Music (RNCM) and postgraduate at the Royal Academy of Music (RAM). She is a graduate of the Guildhall School of Music and Drama: Opera School (September 2013-March 2015) and the National Opera Studio and is an Associate of the Royal Academy of Music. She is the winner of the 2015 Maggie Teyte Prize and a 2017 Leonard Ingrams Award. She continues her studies in London with Gary Coward.

Operatic roles include; Papagena in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (Glyndebourne Festival Opera & the BBC Proms); Barbarina in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro (Garsington Festival Opera & English National Opera); Susanna The Marriage of Figaro for Opera North’s Whistlestop Tour; Governess in Benjamin Britten's The Turn of the Screw (Bury Court Opera); Vixen in The Cunning Little Vixen (Grimeborn Festival / Arcola Theatre); Lady in Waiting in B. Britten's Gloriana (St Endellion Festival with Martyn Brabbins); Miranda in Arnold's The Dancing Master (GSMD); Bětuška in Dvořák’s The Cunning Peasant (GSMD); Servilia in W.A. Mozart's La Clemenza di Tito (RNCM). On screen, she performed the role of Olivia for an animated production of Aidan for English Touring Opera, and the role of La Bergère for VOPERA’s award winning animation of Ravel’s L’Enfant et les Sortilèges. Recent engagements include Flavia in George Frideric Handel's Silla for the Northern Opera Group and Klara in Stephen McNeff’s Beyond the Garden at Lichfield Festival and Three Choirs Festival

Concert highlights include Ralph Vaughan Williams' Serenade to Music at the BBC Last Night of the Proms, G.F. Handel's Messiah at the Royal Albert Hall, B. Britten's Les Illuminations at the Southwell Music Festival and solo recitals at the Oxford Lieder Festival and the Royal Opera House Crush Room.

Recent highlights include her debut with Glyndebourne Festival Opera as Papagena in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Gustav Mahler's Symphony No.4 at the Southwell Music Festival and B. Britten's Les Illuminations with Sian Edwards for the Lewes Festival of Song, and solo recitals at the Oxford Lieder Festival and the Royal Opera House Crush Room. Further performances include her debut with Opera North on their Whistle Stop Opera tour, and a return to ENO for a Studio Live production of Judith Weir's Blonde Eckbert.
