The Japanese mezzo-soprano, Kanako Sakaue, graduated in 2000 from from the prefectural Omiya Koryo High School Music Department. While a student, she won first place in the 53rd All Japan Student Music Competition, and the Japan Broadcasting Corporation Award, Tsuzuki Music Award. She sang the National anthem at the opening ceremony of the 72nd Spring High School Baseball Tournament; she sang "Kimi ga yo". In 2003, she graduated from the Department of Voice, Tokyo University of the Arts. She won Ataka prize while attending school, Toshi Matsuda prize at graduation, Acanthus sound. She received the music prize and the reunion prize. "Rookie concert"' hosted by the association; appeared in "Rookie Concert" sponsored by Yomiuri Shimbun. In 2005, she won 2nd place in Japan Mozart Competition, and won the Excellence Award at the same Grand Prix tournament. In 2006, she completed the Master's program at the same graduate school. In 2012, Kanako Sakaue obtained her Master of Music degree from Hochschule für Musik und Tanz Köln. In April 2013, she started training with the WDR Rundfunkchor Köln (Director: Stefan Parkman). In the opera, she has performed in George Frideric Handel's Alcina (Ruggiero), W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte (Drabella), Georges Bizet's Carmen (title role), and has also been active as a soloist for Lieder and sacred songs. |
