The Mexican soprano, Maribel Salazar Toscano, won the Premio Especial del INBA for her outstanding performance in the XXV Concurso Nacional de Ópera "Carlo Morelli" at the Palacio de Bellas Artes in 2005. She participated in intensive workshops at the Sociedad Internacional de Valores Mexicanos (SIVAM). She has taken master-classes with Beverly Sills, Sherril Milnes, Ramón Vargas, Joan Dornemann, and Nico Castel of the Metropolitan Opera House in New York. In Mexico, she has been accompanied by the great pianists James Demster, Rogelio Riojas, and Sergio Vázquez.
Maribel Salazar made her debut in 2006 at the Palacio de Bellas Artes singing the role of Mimí in Giacomo Puccini's La Bohème under the baton of Enrique Patrón de Rueda. In 2010, she was invited by the Sophia Opera in Bulgaria to sing the role of Mimì in Giacomo Puccini's La Bohème. She represented Mexico at the 2010 Pasadena Tournament of Roses in Pasadena, California, USA, at the invitation of renowned designer Raúl Rodríguez. This annual televised event is watched by two billion viewers worldwide. In 2011, she was invited to participate in the XXV Festival Cultural Zacatecas, performing alongside internationally renowned figures such as tenor José Carreras. At the invitation of the Ópera de Bellas Artes, she sang the title role in Giacomo Puccini's opera Madama Butterfly, receiving critical acclaim from the public and the specialized press. In 2012, she was hired by the Ópera de Bellas Artes to sing the role of Micaëla in the groundbreaking production of Georges Bizet's opera Carmen, receiving rave reviews. In 2012, Maribel Salazar was invited to sing at the Concurso operístico Carlo Morelli Commemorative Gala at the Palacio de Bellas Artes.
Maribel Salazar's repertoire also includes: Turandot, I Pagliacci, Il Trovatore, Carmen, La Bohème, Madama Butterfly, La Vida Breve, and Bachianas Brasilieras No. 5 by Heitor Villa-Lobos. She has performed in various concerts and on radio and television programs. |
