Salomé Sandoval (Soprano)

Born: Caracas, Venezuela

The Venezuelan soprano and guitarist/lautenist and music teache, Salomé Sandoval (SaSa), holds a GPD in Early Music (voice and lute) from Longy School of Music, a Master of Arts degree from MTSU and a Bachelor of Music degree from IUDEM (Instituto Universitario de Estudios Musicales), Venezuela, both in classical guitar. She currently studies for her Master of Music degree Instrumental Performance - Voice at Longy School of Music of Bard College (since 2023). She has played in master-classes with L. Brower, Alirio Díaz, Nigel North, Hopkinson Smith, Paul O'Dette and Stephen Stubbs, Ellen Hargis and Amanda Forsythe. She is an award winner in several music competitions.

Multifaceted artist Salomé Sandoval, sings and accompanies herself with lutes, early and classical guitars, in multilingual, creative and innovative programs, ranging from Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque to 20th century repertoires. Her performances often include a combination of visual arts, dance, theater and music as a protagonist.

In addition to her appearances in radio shows, theater, movie soundtracks and television, Salomé Sandoval a has sung and played in various ensembles and choirs in Venezuela and the USA, including the choir at the Church of the Advent and Revels in Boston, Massachusetts (2006-2014; August 2023-July 2024). She has given master-classes in classical guitar in New York, Minnesota and Mexico, workshops in Hispanic colonial music in Massachusetts and North Carolina and is teaching at Arpeggiato, Boston School of Music Arts (August 2023-July 2024) and Chapel Hill School of Musical Arts (August 2014-December 2023; since December 2024). She has collaborated in CD recordings with Camerata de Caracas in Venezuela, and has two of her own. Her recent collaborations includes Raleigh Camerata, Ashville Baroque, Bach Society of South Carolina, Columbia Baroque, UNC, Duke University (July 2016-December 2017; July 2022-August 2023), Boston Camerata, El Mundo, Newberry Consort, and directs her own group El Fuego Early Music Ensemble. She currently lives in Lives in Durham, North Carolina, USA.
