The American soprano, Lydia V. Saylor, born and raised in New York City, obtained her Bachelor of Arts degree from Pomona Collee (2014-2018); and her Master of Music degree in Vocal Performance from Queens College at Aaron Copland School of Music (December 2024).
Lydia Saylor has been a soloist for operatic and concert repertoire in NYC and abroad. Operatic roles include Gretel in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel (2024, 2025), Adele in J. Strauss' Die Fledermaus (2025), Morgana in George Frideric Handel's Alcina (2023, 2024), Hypsipyle in Cavalli's Il Giasone (2024), Spring and Fairy in Purcell's Fairy Queen (2023), and Papagena in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte (2025). As a soloist with orchestra she has performed J.S. Bach's Johannes-Passion BWV 245, J.S. Bach's Cantata BWV 51 (Jauchzet Gott), Jan Dismas Zelenka's Magnificat, Copland's Eight Poems of Emily Dickinson, Gabriel Fauré's Requiem, Felix Mendelssohn's Elijah, Ralph Vaughan Williams' Magnificat, and A Festival of Psalms by Kerensa and David Briggs (world premiere). As an ensemble soloist in the Singapore International Festival of the Arts she has performed PROTO by Holly Herndon and premiered a vocal work by her sister Evelyn Saylor in music festivals London, The Hague, and Vienna. She loves performing contemporary music and has performed chamber music by Steve Reich, Lukas Foss, and Mathew Rosenblum, and premiered songs by her father Bruce Saylor and chamber music by the student composers at Queens College, where she completed her Master’s Degree in Music. |
