Edward Schappert (Tenor)

Born: May 1926 - Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania, USA
Died: January 15, 2024 - Johnson City, New York, USA

The American tenor, Edward (Ed) L. Schappert, was born in Wilkes-Barre, graduated from St. Mary's High School in Wilkes-Barre, served in the US Navy during World War II and then attended Kings College after the war.

Edward Schappert was a member of the Church of the Holy Family in Endwell and a member of the Endicott Rotary and West Endicott Elks Club. His favorite pastimes were watching and playing golf, taking in a Yankee game and most especially singing, his strong clear tenor a source of enjoyment for people around the community and around the world. He enjoyed entertaining and loved sharing a Manhattan or two with friends and family. His role with the Elks Club was an additional source of pride in his life as a past Exulted Ruler. He also enjoyed keeping up with the activities of his many grandchildren and great grandchildren. He passed away at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital Johnson City on January 15, 2024, at the age of 97.
