The German soprano, Katharina Scheliga, studied church music at the Hochschule für Kirchenmusik in Dresden and then singing pedagogy at the Musikinstitut der Martin-Luther-Universität Halle/ Wittenberg. In master-classes with Barbara Schlick (Internationale Händelakademie Karlsruhe), Jessica Cash (Kent), Monika Mauch, the Stuttgarter Bachakademie and more, she deepened her vocal training.
Katharina Scheliga has gained a lot of experience in ensemble singing, including with the Leipziger Vocalensemble (Director: David Timm), Dresdner Kammerchor (Director: Hans-Christoph Rademann), Sächsisches Vocalensemble (Director: Matthias Jung), Vocal Concert Dresden, Opernchor der Staatsoperette Dresden and participated in Baroque opera productions as well as CD recordings. Currently she sings with the Collegium Vocale Leipzig (Director: Michael Schönheit). She collaborates with selected musicians in various programs. As a soloist, she has designed versatile programs for early music since 2006, among others. with Musica Briosa in Dresden. One focus of her artistic work is the rediscovery and performance of rarely heard works from the 16th to 18th centuries. In addition, she is dedicated to Lieder singing and performs since 2013 Polish-German Lieder programs.
As a voice tutor, Katharina Scheliga gained teaching experience with the Dresdner Kapellknaben and Knabenchor Dresden. From 2006 to 2016, she directed the Kinderchor der Staatsoperette Dresden, where she also worked as voice coach. She currently teaches classical singing in Dresden and at the Musikschule Leipzig Johann Sebastian Bach. |
