The Portuguese bass-baritone, choral conductor and music teacher, João Emanuel Silva, studied Mechanical Engineering at Universidade de Aveiro (2011-2015). He worked as a carpenter at Carpintaria Mecânica São Bernardo in Outeiro das Matas, Ourém, Portugal (December 2015-August 2019). Since January 2015, he was also singer in Coro de Câmara Essence Voices in Ourém. In 2019, he moved to the Netherlands,
and obtained his Bachelor of Music degree in Singing and Opera from the Koninklijk Conservatorium - Royal Conservatoire of The Hague (2019-2023),
where he studied with teachers Gerda van Zelm and Frans Fiselier, and also completed a minor in choral conducting with Jos Vermunt. Since then, he has been taking lessons with Margreet Honig.
At the age of 22, João Silva embarked on his singing career and, since then, he has performed with various choirs and ensembles, interpreting a wide range of music, from Renaissance to contemporary, mainly in the Netherlands and Portugal. Currently he sings with Groot Omroepkoor Academy 2023-2024 (Netherlands), Essence Voices and the ensemble CHOREOS (Germany), among other ensembles, and also performs often oratorios as soloist. Hwe currently lives in The Hague, South Holland, the Netherlands. |
