The American tenor, Peter Sly, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in History & Social Thought from the Stanford University (1964-1968); and his Juris Doctor degree in Law from the Yale Law School (1971-1974).
Peter Sly has worked as Assistant Legal Affairs Secretary at Governor's Office in Saramento (1975-1977); Attorney in Natural Resources Law San Francisco (1977-1984); Director of Conference of Western Attorneys General (1984-1988); Natural resources law in Private Legal Practice (1989-1997); Attorney at East Bay Municipal Utility District in Oakland, California (1997-2002); Professor and Mellon Environmental Fellow at Colby College (2003-2011); Independent legal consultant (since 2003). He is a specialist in water, Indian, energy and ethics law, his practice has included Indian water settlements, federal water rights, the Colorado River, FERC relicensing, the Endangered Species Act, and water matters related to the PG&E bankruptcy.
Peter Sly has sung tenor solos in Berlin, Spoleto, Paris, London and Prague. He is also a seasoned performer in a cappella jazz and doo-wop. His theater experience includes Frank Gibbs in Our Town (supporting John Lithgow, as George Gibbs); The Jester in Once Upon a Mattress, and, Bellamy in The Fantasticks. He is supporting husband for Blue Hill Bach's Executive Director Marcia Gronewold Sly (they married on April 18, 1992). He currently lives in Brooklin, Maine. |
