The Munich-born lyric coloratura soprano Judith Spießer studied voice at the University of Music and Performing Arts Munich with Wolfgang Brendel and Lied interpretation with Helmut Deutsch and Juliane Banse. From 2020 to 2022, she was a member of the ensemble at the Staatstheater am Gärtnerplatz in Munich.
As a concert soloist, Judith Spießer regularly performs with renowned orchestras including the Orchestre des Champs-Élysées, the Noord Nederlands Orkest, the Deutsche Staatsphilharmonie Rheinland-Pfalz, the Münchner Symphoniker, the Warsaw Philharmonic Orchestra, and the Orchestre Philharmonique de Monte-Carlo. She has collaborated with conductors such as Philippe Herreweghe, Ton Koopman, Hartmut Haenchen, Michael Francis, Krzysztof Urbański, and Enrico Onofri.
On the operatic stage, Judith Spießer appears regularly both in Germany and internationally. Her repertoire includes roles such as the Queen of the Night in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Lucia in Donizetti’s Lucia di Lammermoor, and the three female roles in Offenbach’s Les Contes d’Hoffmann. The Queen of the Night has become one of her signature roles, taking her to the Aalto-Musiktheater Essen, Musiktheater im Revier Gelsenkirchen, Staatstheater Nürnberg, and most recently to the Salzburg Landestheater.
International highlights of her operatic career include her portrayal of La Fée in Massenet’s Cendrillon at the National Taichung Theater in Taiwan in Laurent Pelly’s celebrated production, as well as stepping in at short notice to perform the title role of Lakmé at the Opéra de Monte-Carlo. |
