The American sorano, Catherine Steinbrink, obtained her bachelor of Music degree in Vocal Performance summa cum laude from Northern Arizona University in Flagstaff (2009-2013). During her studies, she was Soprano Chorister in Sedona Academy of Chamber Singers in Northern Arizona (December 2010-August 2013); Soprano Section Leader at Church of the Red Rocks in Sedona, Arizona (May 2012-Aug 2013). She was the recipient of the Edgar Stone Vocal Scholarship and finalist in the 2011-2014 National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) Vocal Competitions. She was recipient of John C. and Elizabeth P. White Grant (2011-2013); Top Prize-winner at Edgar Stone Vocal Competition (2012); First Prize winner at NATS Arizona Regional Competition (2010); 2nd Prize winner NATS Arizona Regional Competition (2013). Her principle teachers: Catherine Mazzone (2014-present), Judith Cloud (2009-2013).
Catherine Steinbrink has performed as a featured soloist with the Westchester Oratorio Society (Director: Benjamin Niemczyk) and New York Chamber Choir, appeared in several NYC-based recital series, and given performances at the National Opera Center. She recently performed the role of Pamina in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte with the Downtown Symphony of New York (2018), as well as Violetta in La Traviata for the premiere production of The Marco Polo Foundation’s “Live the Opera’s Soul” series with the Orchestra dell’Opera di Parma (2017). Other role credits include Tebaldo in Don Carlo, Lauretta in Gianni Schicchi (NAU, 2013), Emmie in Benjamin Britten's Albert Herring (NAU, 2012), La Novizia in Suor Angelica (NAU, 2013), Giannetta in L’Elisir d'amore (NAU, 2012), and Papagena in Die Zauberflöte (NAU, 2011).
Catherine Steinbrink performed as the soprano soloist for major concert works including Francis Poulenc’s Gloria (Westchester Oratorio Society, 2015), George Frideric Handel’s Messiah (Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra, 2013-2014), J.S. Bach’s Magnificat BWV 243 (Westchester Oratorio Society, 2015), and Purcell’s Come Ye, Sons of Art. Recently she was the soprano soloist for Berlioz’s Les nuits d’été with the New York Conducting Institute and the Metropolitan Opera’s Maestro Paul Nadler (2018). She performed as an ensemble member and featured soloist with the world-renowned Shrine of the Ages Concert Choir (Director: Dr. Edith Copley; 2010-2013); Sedona Academy of Chamber Singers (Director: Dr. Ryan Holder; 2010- 2014); New York Chamber Choir (Director: Alistair Hamilton; 2014-2016).
Catherine Steinbrink has worked as Music Teacher/ Voice Instructor at ISTEIN School in New York City (November 2013-June 2015); Music Teacher at Invictus Preparatory Charter School in New York City (January 2014-June 2016). She currently resides in New York City. |
