Joachim Streckfuß (Tenor)

Born: February 11, 1983 - Tuttlingen, Baden-Württemberg, Germany

The German tenor, Joachim Streckfuß, took lessons with Monika Mauch (Trossingen) and Hans Jörg Mammel (Freiburg). Until the summer of 2008, he studied singing education in at the Musikhochschule Freiburg im Breisgau with Angela Nick and Hans-Peter Müller (Lied) and was supervised by Gerd Heinz as a member of the Opernschule. Since winter semester 2008-2009, he studied in the class of Robert Schunk at the Musikhochschule Köln: Aachen department, graduating with distinction in 2010. This was followed by postgraduate studies in historical interpretation practice at the Musikhochschule Frankfurt with Berthold Possemeyer. He receives further inspiration from working with Hartmut Singer and various master-classes, including with Krisztina Láki and Peter Schreier.

Joachim Streckfuß is a busy concert performer, which has led him to engagements at home and abroad. He has performed at the Ruhrtriennale, Festival RheinVokal, Bodenseefestival, Early Music Festivals in Barcelona and Utrecht, and White-Light-Festival in New York, among others. He has performed on the opera stage, including the scenic song recital “Winter.Reise.Lenz”, Joseph Haydn’s Il mondo della luna at the Aachen Theater and Alessandro Stradella's San Giovannni Battista at the Rheingau-Musik-Festival. His concert activity is mainly in the field of Lied and oratorio, in particular with church music works from the Baroque and Classical periods to the modern era, as well as lesser-known works and early and contemporary music, such as the cantatas and oratorios of J.S. Bach, Weihnachtsoratorium by Carl Heinrich Graun, Passions and Weihnachtshistorie by Heinrich Schütz and Die Schöpfung by Joseph Haydn. His particular love of living historical performance practice is reflected in his collaboration with ensembles such as Concerto Köln, La Stagione Frankfurt (Director: Michael Schneider), Das Kleine Konzert (Director: Hermann Max), Das Neue Orchester (Director: Christoph Spering), Johann-Rosenmüller-Ensemble (Director: Arno Paduch), Kölner Akademie (Director: Michael Alexander Willens), Les Cornets Noirs Basel, Ars Antiqua Austria (Director: Gunar Letzbor), Barockorchester L'arpa festante and Elbipolis Barockorchester Hamburg, which is also documented in radio and sound recordings. In addition to his solo work, he is a member of WDR Rundfunkchor Köln (since 2012; Director: Stefan Parkman), Chorus Musicus Köln (Director: Christoph Spering) and Kammerchor Baden-Württemberg (Director: Jochen Woll).
