Walter Testolin (Bass)

Born: Vicenza, Italy

The Italian bass, Walter Testolin, studied at Conservatorio di Vicenza in Italy

Walter Testolin, basso profondo, with particular ductility (extension and flexibility), is actively engaged in the performance of Oratorio, Cantata and Opera of the Baroque and Renaissance repertoire both sacred as well as madrigal ensemble. He sings under the guidance of conductors such as Sigiswald Kuijken, Alan Curtis, Andrew Lawrence-King, Fabio Bonizzoni, Diego Fasolis, Michael Radulescu, Ottavio Dantone. He has recorded for several of the most important European radio-television broadcasting stations and boast more than a hundred recordings.

Walter Testolin has specialized in musicology and literary repertoire, with particular attention to the work of the great Renaissance composer Josquin Desprez. In 2001 he founded the vocal ensemble De Labyrintho, which is now reported as one of the most interesting polyphonic renaissance formations of the European musical scene and whose recordings have already achieved considerable critical and public response.

Walter Testolin holds seminars, conferences and master-classes at prestigious Italian and foreign institutes. Since January 2011 he is directing the RossoPorpora Ensemble, a group of young Italian singers and instrumentalists, dedicated to Baroque music.
