Sara Tommasini (Contralto, Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Italy

The Italian contralto/mezzo-soprano, Sara Tommasini, She accomplished her studies at Conservatorio E.F. D'Allabaco in Verona and at Conservatorio A.Pedrollo in Vicenza where she achieved her master degree in Baroque singing magna cum laude. She studied with Sara Mingardo. She is actually perfectioning with Sonia Prina and Gemma Bertagnolli. During her studies she had the chance to partecipate to the classes by B. Manca di Nissa, and to perfection the Lieder repertoire with E. Andreani. She also has a master degree in English Literature at the University of Padua.

Sara Tommasini's main experiences includes: L'Incoronazione di Poppea (Ottone) and Il Ritorno di Ulisse in Patria (Penelope) by C. Monteverdi performed for Corti, Chiese e Cortili at Archiginnasio in Bologna in 2016/17. In 2017 she has been conducted as soloist by Filippo Maria Bressan for Baroque Experience. In 2017 she recorded the Mottetti a 1, 2, 3 e 4 voci by B.M. Meda with Cappella Artemisia, that will be released by Brilliant Classics and the Romanze da camera by D. Canestrari, rediscovered composer of the early 1900's, that will be released by Tactus Records.

In 2016 Sara Tommasini performed the first modern performance of Ambleto by Gasparini (title role) at Sala Maffeiana in Verona. In 2015 she performed in the Italian tour of Dido and Aeneas by H. Purcell (Sourceress) with the British company Ad Parnassum. In 2015 she was soloist at Festival Galuppi in Venice on stage with Sara Mingardo (Antonio Vivaldi repertoire). In 2015 she was honoured to open the vernissage of the exhibition Donatello Svelato in Padua, where she sang a selection of Bachian arias. In 2014 she recorded the anthem In the Lord put I my Trust by George Frideric Handel for La Bottega Discantica. In 2014 she was awarded the Special Prize at Fatima Terzo contest. Later she was selected and she perfomed Paul Hindemith's Sancta Susanna (choir) at Ravenna Festival, conducted by Riccardo Muti.

She is experienced also in the contemporary repertoire: She performed G. Ligeti's Aventures at festival Dopo il Rumore, and G.C. Menotti's The Medium (Baba). She performed in the main seasons and theaters of northern Italy: Festival Grandezze e Meraviglie in Modena, Teatro Olimpico in Vicenza, Scuola Grande di San Rocco in Venice, Sala dei Giganti in Padua, Teatro Bibiena in Mantua, Sala Maffeiana in Verona. She sang live at the radio broadcasting Piazza Verdi on Radio Tre.
