The Mexican soprano, Mariana Valdés, completed her Bachelor of Music degree in Voice Performance in Canada at the Vancouver Academy of Music. Later on, she moved to Italy to study with soprano Renata Scotto at the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, in Rome. During her training she has been instructed by mentors such as: Fernando Cordeiro Opa, Leone Magiera and Katia Ricciarelli.
Mariana Valdés has performed mainly in Canada and Italy. Aside from a broad stage and concert experience, she has won several international singing competitions in the aforesaid countries. Some outstanding roles amongst her repertoire include, Susanna in Il segreto di Susanna, Mimì in La Bohème and Adina in L’elisir d’amore. She is currently preparing Francis Poulenc's La Voix Humaine, a work that will be presented in Italy in 2020.
During the development of her singing career, Mariana Valdés participated in several international competitions, always classifying among the first places and made her debut in the role of Adina in the Elisir d’Amore at the Edmonton Vocal Arts Festival in Canada in 2011. Opera Studio of the Accademia Nazionale di Santa Cecilia, Sinaloa International Singing Competition, Opera de Bellas Artes Prize at the Francisco Araiza International Competition, Concurso Internacional de Canto Lirico in Trujillo, Peru, Arturo Pessina Singing Competition in Garlasco, are only some of the prestigious competitions she has been awarded in.
Mariana Valdés collaborates with theater production companies in Italy, regularly working as an actress for repertory theatre, comedy and contemporary theater. In addition to Spanish, her mother tongue, she is fluent in English, Italian, and French. Furthermore, she has a thorough understanding and enjoys singing in German. She currently resides in Bologna. |
