Nina Vinther (Mezzo-soprano)

Born: Harpenden, St Albans City district, Hertfordshire, England

The English English and half-Danish mezzo-soprano, Nina Vihther, studied at St Albans High School for Girls (2010-2016), and began singing as a chorister at St Albans Cathedral. During her undergraduate year abroad in Munich and Paris (2018-2019), she sang with choirs in venues such as Munich’s Herkulesaal and Gasteig, the Chapelle Royale de Versailles and the Basilique du Sacré Cœur de Montmartre. She obtained her Bachelor of arts degree Hons Cantab, MML (French, German, Dutch, Polish) from the University of Cambridge (2016-2020; Grade: First with Distinction). During this period, she was President of Sing Inside; Events Manager of Entente Cordiale; Publicity Officer of Trinity College Music Society; Choral Scholar of Trinity College Choir of Cambridge (Director: Stephen Layton); Member of Cadenza (Cambridge's premier acapella group), King Henry's Eight; Steward and performer at ADC theatre. Trombonist. She continuede her studies at the Trinity College, University of Cambridge and obtained her Master of Philosophy degree in European and Latin American Cultures (2021-2022; Grade: Distinction). In December 2021, she performed as a soloist in George Frideric Handel's Messiah at St Mary's Church Woodbridge with the Woodbridge Choral Society conducted by Andrew Leach. She studies with Richard Edgar-Wilson. She currently studies at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Nina Vinther's opera roles include the Witch in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, Nireno in G.F. Handel's Giulio Cesare, and Juno in G.F. Handel's Semele.
