The Orchester für Alte Musik Vorpommern (Western Pomerania Early Music Orchestra) consists of young musicians who specialize in historical performance practice in the region north of Berlin. They provide lively and inspiring accompaniment to choirs and ensembles in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Brandenburg. The ensemble also presents its own programs. In 2016, it performed chamber music for the first time at the Uckermärkischen Musikwochen. A year earlier, the ensemble participated in the ZDF television service in Güstrow.
The members have studied early music and play in renowned ensembles in Germany and abroad. Research and revival of works by Pomeranian composers from Stralsund, Szczecin, Gdansk, and Greifswald are focal points of the ensemble.
A special feature of the ensemble is the equal collaboration between Polish and German musicians in the Western Pomerania border region. Through this co-operation and joint concerts, it makes a valuable contribution to cross-border understanding. |
