The American tenor and chef of Taiwanese origin, Jason J. Wang, obtained his Bachelor of Arts degree in Music from the Cornell University (2000-2004); and his Master of Music degree in Historical Performance from the Boston University College of Fine Arts (2005-2008).
Jason J. Wang performs a wide range of repertoire with many of Boston's leading ensembles such as Boston Baroque (Director: Martin Pearlman; since 2008), Odyssey Opera, Schola Cantorum of Boston, and Emmanuel Music (Director: Ryan Turner). Notable solo engagements on the concert stage include Charpentier’s Te Deum with Boston Baroque, Haydn’s Part-Songs at Cornell University, performances of Monteverdi's Vespers of 1610 with the Sounds of Stow, and J.S. Bach's Weihnachts-Oratorium BWV 248. His previous concert work includes appearances with the Handel & Haydn Society (Director: Harry Christophers), Boston Modern Orchestra Project, Mark Morris Dance Group as part of the Fleet Bank Celebrity Series, the Marsh Chapel Choir & Marsh Chapel Collegium, the Choirs of Trinity Church Copley, and with the Cambridge Concentus under the direction of Joshua Rifkin. He appeared with Emmanuel Music in performances of John Harbison's The Great Gatsby at the Tanglewood Music Festival (July 2013) and toured to Poland with Boston Baroque to Warsaw (Philharmonic Hall) and Katowice (NOSPR) for the Beethoven Easter Festival.
For three seasons Jason J. Wang performed with Opera Boston, appearing most notably in their productions of Dmitri Shostakovich's The Nose, Rossini’s Tancredi, and Offenbach's The Grande Duchesse of Gérolstein. Additional operatic engagements have included performances with the Boston University Opera Institute, the Boston Youth Symphony Orchestras (BYSO) in Verdi's Rigoletto and Verdi’s Otello, with Boston Lyric Opera in Wagner’s Der fliegende Holländer, and with Odyssey Opera in Arthur Sullivan’s The Zoo and W.A. Mozart’s Lucio Silla. Upcoming performances include the 50th Anniversary season for Boston Baroque with George Frideric Handel's Messiah in 2023 and W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni in 2024. He can be heard on recordings released on the Albany and Linn labels.
In addition, Jason J. Wang travels nationally and internationally as a television host and judge, food personality, speaker, baker, chef and educator. He has been TV host at Michelin “Food Hunter 摘星秘密客” at 亞洲旅遊台 (2019-2021); Series Judge of “CooKing 料理之王” at ETtoday星光雲 (2020-2022); Series Host of Jason’s Table at TaiwanPlus (since 2022); Series host of 'Botanical Wonders' for TaiwanPlus (since 2024). He currently lives in ives in Boston, Massachusetts. |
