The Dutch tenor, Gideon van de Weg, began his musical career as a soprano with the Kampen Boys Choir (KBC), where he laid a strong foundation. He was introduced to the great choral repertoire early on, developing a lsting love for the music of J.S. Bach, paticularly the Matthäus-Passion BWV 244, which he performed in various locations throughout the Netherlands.
After a period when music was less central to his life, he realized how much he missed singing. Through several Bach cantata services in Kampen, he rediscovered his passion for music and returned to the Kampen Boys Choir, where he has now been active as a tenor for over ten years. With the KBC, he participated in evensongs in England, including perrformance at Canterbury Cathedral, St. Paul's Cathedral, and Westminster Abbey. In his earlier years, he took singing lessons with Jasper Schweppe. |
