The Dutch mezzo-soprano, Maite Cathérine de Wit, obtained, her Bachelor in Theater Management from the Hogeschool voor de Kunsten Utrecht (Utrecht School of the Arts) (2006-2010). She then went to Vienna to explore the classical music world for three years. She studied at the Diözesankonservatorium für Kirchenmusik with Peter Thunhart (2011-2013) and sang with the Wiener Singverein under the musical direction of, among others, Daniel Barenboim and Nikolaus Harnoncourt. She assisted the direction team with the Baroque opera Radamisto at Theater an der Wien and organized her own concerts and music theater performances. From 2013 to June 2017, she studied at the Koninklijk Conservatorium (Royal Conservatory) in The Hague with Gerda van Zelm and Frans Fiselier and obtained her Bachelor degree in Vocal Studies Classical singing.
Maite Cathérine de Wit is active as mezzo-soprano siner since September 2011. In September 2014, she organized and sang Giovanni Battista Pergolesi's Stabat Mater in De Goede Herder in Wassenaar to raise money for the Palestine Children's Relief Fund. In January 2016 she sang Ein Deutsches Requiem by Johannes Brahms with the Groot Omroepkoor, conducted by Edo de Waart. On June 17, 2016 she sang in the premiere of All Rise! an opera in two acts, which she produced (Stichting Wervelwind Muziektheater). In November and December 2016, she sang J.S. Bach's Mass in B minor (BWV 232), conducted by Ton Koopman, in New York, Boston, The Hague, Leiden and Deventer. She is supported by Stichting Eigen Muziekinstrument, Stichting Vrijvrouwe van Renswoude and Stichting Schuurman Schimmel-van Outeren.
In the area of theater management, Maite Cathérine de Wit has worked as Assistant PR & Marketing at Stage Entertainment Nederland (June 2015-February 2016); Assistant Production Manager at Dutch National Opera & Ballet (September 2017-July 2018); Business Manager at Stichting Wervelwind Muziektheater in LocationThe Hague Area (since February 2016); Producer Classical Music at Codarts, hogeschool voor de kunsten in Rotterdam (since August 2018). |
