Shimon Yoshida (Tenor)

Born: December 15, 1992 - Nagoya, Japan

The Japanese tenor, Shimon Yoshida, obtained his his Bachelor of Music degree frommthe Tokyo University of the Arts (Tokyo Geidai); and his Master of Music degree in concert singing from the Hochschule für Musik und Theater München (2015-September 2017), where he studied with Sylvia Greenberg. In 2018 he won a special prize at the IX. Concorso Salvatore Licitra in Milan.

Shimon Yoshida's repertoire ranges from the Baroque to the present. The main focus of his work is on the sacred works of J.S. Bach, which he has performed in numerous concerts in Japan. In addition to various sacred and secular cantatas, he also interpreted as a soloist Matthäus-Passion (BWV 244) and Weihnachts-Oratorium (BWV 248). In addition, he can look back on solo engagements in oratorios such as George Frideric Handel's Messiah and Haydn's Creation, as well as in numerous masses such as W.A. Mozart's Spatzenmesse, Antonio Vivaldi's Dixit Dominus and Schubert's E flat major Mass. In Tokyo he has sung the role of Manteau in Rameau's Les Paradins, Nemorino in L'elisir d'amore and Ferrando in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte. He was also seen as Gernando in Haydn's L'isola disabitata in Augsburg and as Cossé in Mayerbeer's Les Hugenottes in Stuttgart and Munich.

Shimon Yoshida was a membe of Rundfunkchor Berlin (September 2017-February 2020). He was also a member of BachWerkVokal Salzburg (Director: Gordon Safari). He has been a permanent member of the RIAS-Kammerchor Berlin since March 2022. He currently lives in Berlin, Germany.
