Martin Zeidler (Baritone)

Born: Berlin, Germany

The German barritone and singing teacher, Martin Zeidler, began his musical training on the jazz guitar and took part in composition workshops at the Staatsoper Berlin at a young age. He first studied music education at the Folkwang Universität der Künste Essen from 2015 before starting to study vocal pedagogy with Steffanie Patzke. He supplemented his studies with master-classes with Professor Thomas Heyer, Wolfgang Klose, Daniel Johannsen, John Stewart as well as the King's Singers and Voces8. He deepened his training as a choir conductor with the Knabenchor Hannover. He is currently completing a master's degree at the Hochschule für Musik, Theater und Medien Hannover with Professor Marina Sandel (Class of 2024).

Martin Zeidler's preference for concert and ensemble singing has led him to the Folkwang Vokalensemble and the Chorus Musicus Köln (Director: Christoph Spering), among others. He made his opera debut in 2018 as part of the university production Schneewittchen (Snow White) by Marius Felix Lange, after which he was heard in the role of Gustav Mahler in the Ludwig van B. production Wie du mich berührst - Brahmsphantasien in 2019. In 2020 he was involved in the founding of the octet Ensemble Meridiem, which specializes in early music, and with which he is still associated as a singer today. His concert repertoire ranges from the Heinrich Schütz' Exequien, to various oratorio works by J.S. Bach, Georg Philipp Telemann and Dietrich Buxtehude, to the masses and oratorios of the classical and romantic periods.

In addition to his artistic work, Martin Zeidler is a passionate teacher and teaches privately and at music schools and gives voice training in choirs and cantories. It is important to him to develop a free, personal and expressive form of voice production together with his students based on current research findings. He has already accompanied several successful aptitude test preparations for music courses at the universities of North Rhine-Westphalia.
