The American soprano and music educator, Allison Zelles Lloyd, started piano lessons at six years of age. She obtained her Bachelor of Arts in Music Theory from UC Santa Barbara (1985-1989); and her Master of Music degree in Early Music Vocal Performance from Indiana University Bloomington (1990-1994). She also attended the Early Music Summer classes at Amherst College (1989-1991).
Allison Zelles Lloyd has been Self-employed Musician and Music Educator since 1991. She has performed, toured and recorded in the USA and Europe with Bimbetta (d’Note label), the Medieval ensemble Altramar (Dorian Discovery), Paul Hillier’s Theatre of Voices (Harmonia Mundi) and minimalist, Steve Reich (Nonesuch). She then sang and have recorded with a variety of Early Music ensembles in the San Francisco East Bay area: American Bach Soloists (since 1996; Director: Jeffrey Thomas), American Baroque, Vajra Voices (since August 2014), Shira Kammen, Calextone (since 2013), Theatre of Voices. She also plays medieval harp, piano and recorders.
As a music educator, Allison Zelles Lloyd has given voice and piano lessons to all ages. With the birth of her children, she embarked on her journey as an early childhood music specialist by training through Music Together (September 2000-June 2015) and Orff Schulwerk (September 2006-February 2015) programs in the SF Bay Area. She has been Teacher and Preschool Center Program Director at Music Together (September 2003-June 2012); Music & Movement Teacher at Eagle Peak Montessori School -public charter in the Mt. Diablo School District (September 2006-June 2016); Lecturer at St. Mary's College, Moraga, California (September 2011-December 2018); Classroom Teacher 1st-3rd grade at Eagle Peak Montessori School in Walnut Creek (since September 2021). For several years, she got sidetracked by a job in the medical devices field and quality assurance practices while she laser micro-machined polymers. She currently lives in Walnut Creek, California |
