Johann Friedrich Reiss was born the son of Johann Bernhard Reiss (Pastor in Altengottern). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig on May 12, 1732; studied there from 1732 to 1737; and at Universität Leipzig from 1737. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. |
