Johann Daniel Senfft made his application to enroll at the Thomasschule in Leipzig in 1729. He was not accepted. His father included a recommendation from a cantor that had stated that his son sang fairly well, but had trouble with his general studies. Most probably he was not J.S. Bach's pupil.
