Johann August Töpfer was born the son of Johann Justus Töpfer (Pastor in Colditz). He enrolled at the Thomasschule in Leipzig in September 1738; studied there from 1738. Although he attended the Thomasschule during J.S. Bach's tenure, it is not known if he actually studied with him. |
