The Academia Bach de Buenos Aires is a non profit association having developed an uninterrupted work from its beginnings in the year 1983. Until 2014 was sponsored by the "Asociación Festivales Musicales de Buenos Aires" which finished its functions. The performances of more than 80 cantatas, most executed in first audition, J.S. Bach's Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248) and Easter Oratorio (BWV 249), Magnificat (BWV 243) and diverse instrumental works are part of the traditional lecture concerts of the Bach Academy. The public's participation singing with the musicians has been appreciated not only in Argentina but in Chile and Brazil through numerous and successful tours. As somebody wrote: "A fascinating experience, that reconciles oneself with the humanistic values of a composer that consecrated their art to the Most High". The Academy Bach honors this way one of the postulates of the Neue Bach Gesellschaft when propitiating the conservation of the work of Bach like the humanity's important cultural inheritance, promoting its diffusion in the entire world."
The Academia Bach launched in 1997 a radio program dedicated to J.S. Bach - entitled "La Cantata del Domingo" which gained enormous publicity in the entire South America.
The Academia Bach was awarded with numerous prizes such as the Premio Santa Clara de Asís 1989, Konex Prizes 1989, 1999 and 2009, Asociación Críticos Musicales de la Argentina 1990, 1998 and 2000, Asociación Arte y Cultura 1993. |
