The English tenor, Rory Carver, has recently graduated from the University of Warwick, where he held the Francine Barlow Choral Scholarship and studied under Llyndall Trotman. During this time he took part in European tours as both a consort singer and soloist. In 2014 he was the first singer for more than ten years to win the University of Warwick Concerto Competition.
Previously singing as a baritone, Rory Carver most recently sang solos in J.S. Bach's St John Passion (BWV 245), Gabriel Fauré and W.A. Mozart's Requiems, and Benjamin Britten's Rejoice in the Lamb with the University of Warwick Chamber Choir and Chorus. In the Warwick Arts Centre Theatre he performed baritone roles as the title role in W.A. Mozart's Don Giovanni, Aeneas in Purcell's Dido & Aeneas, Dandini in Rossini's La Cenerentola and Peter in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hansel and Gretel for Opera Warwick. In addition, he has performed as chorus for productions by both Armonico Consort and HeadFirst Productions. Having finished a run as Sid in Benjamin Britten's Albert Herring in 2015, he is committed to being a fully-edged tenor from now on!
Rory Carver has received generous support from Finham Choral Society, the University of Warwick Chorus and the John Clough Bursary Trust. He was a Monteverdi Choir apprentice for 2014-2015, and will be joining them for the 2015 BBC Proms as well as in concerts across Europe. He curreently lives in Saint Albans, England. |
