The American bass-baritone, Doug Crawley, graduated from Indiana University and Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, and earned the Doctor of Musical Arts degree from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he was given a Performance Certificate and Award for Outstanding Performer. He has also studied at the University of North Texas, Cambridge University, and Oxford University.
Doug Crawley has been a featured soloist in concert, opera, and oratorio, including appearances with the Louisville Orchestra, Lexington Philharmonic, Palm Beach Symphony, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Forth Worth Symphony, Charlotte Philharmonic, Dayton Opera, National Opera Association, and the Dome Theatre in Brighton, England. His credits include a Public Radio broadcast of Ralph Vaughan Williams’ Hodie, a national tour and televised production, cast recording, and video of The Telephone by Menotti, and a nationally televised production, cast recording, and video of the world premiere performance of Beloved Thief by Levit. Other performances include L.v. Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony, Gustav Mahler’s Kindertotenlieder, J.S. Bach’s St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244) and Christmas Oratorio (BWV 248), Orff’s Carmina Burana, Felix Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Mozart’s Requiem, and WHAS TV’s Crusade for Children Telethon. He has performed in concerts and seminars in England, Israel, Portugal, Brazil, Ukraine and Russia. Currently he is Minister of Music and Worship at Hickory Grove Baptist Church in Charlotte. |
