The German mezzo-soprano, Angela Liebold, studied at the Musikhochschule of Dresden, where she walso held held a teaching position from 1982 to 2008. She was winner of the International Johann Sebastian Bach Competition, the Robert Schumann Competition and the Maria Callas Competition.
Immediately after graduation, Angela Liebold joined the young ensemble of the Semperoper in Dresden, and in 1985 joined the first ensemble of this opera gouse. Her roles include inter alia Orpheus in Orpheus und Eurydike, Olga in Eugen Onegin, Annius in W.A. Mozart's La clemenza di Tito, Cherubino in W.A. Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro, Dorabella in W.A. Mozart's Così fan tutte, Annina in Der Rosenkavalier, Hänsel in Engelbert Humperdinck's Hänsel und Gretel, Meg Page in Falstaff, Mercédès in Georges Bizet's Carmen, Flora Bervoix in La traviata, 2nd Lady in W.A. Mozart's Die Zauberflöte, Giovanna in Rigoletto und Adelaide in Arabella. In Kurt Weill's Street Scene, she sang the role Emma Jones. In 2011-2012 season she made her debut as the Mother in the new production of Alban Berg’s Lulu.
