The English tenor, Sébastian Monti, was born in London of French parents. He began the violin and the organ at the age of 10 to the Academy Couperin de Tournan-en-Brie. Very fast fascinated by the music of the 17th and 18th centuries, he was also interested in the vocal repertoire. In 2004, he enrolled at the Center of Baroque Music of Versailles as student-bard where he worked the singing and approaches the Baroque repertoire with Gaël de Kerret, Hélène Dufour, Julie Hassler, Frédéric Desenclos and Arnaud Pumir. He also participated in Master's degree-class of Marteen Konigsberger, Alain Buet, Isabelle Poulenard, Isabelle Desrochers, Christine Schweitzer, Pierre Mervant and Valérie Guillorit. In 2007, Jean-Claude Malgoire, François Bazola, Benoît Haller and Christine Schweitzer award him, unanimously, his diploma of musical studies of singing with a very-good mention. At the same time, he approached the Classic and Romantic repertoire with Micaela Etcheverry.
In 2007, under the Hervé Niquet's educational responsibility, Sébastian Monti participates in the Baroque Academy of Ambronay (dedicated this year to Le Carnival et la Folie byAndré-Cardinal Destouches) and sang in Cadmus et Hermione by J. B. Lully managed by Vincent Dumestre and represented to the Opera Comique of Paris. Since 2008, he sings regularly within Le Concert d'Astrée directed by Emmanuelle Haïm (Thésée by Lully at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées, Hyppolite by Rameau at the Capitol of Toulouse, Dardanus by Rameau at the Opera of Lille, Caen and Dijon). Besides, he is also sought-after as a soloist by Ton Koopman, Hugo Reyne, Pierre Cao and Jérôme Correas (Paladins), Rolandas Muleika ( Antiphona), Philippe le Corf (Aria Voce), Marek Štryncl (Musica Florea), Michel Laplénie (Sagittarius), etc.
In 2009, Sébastian Monti appeared in recital around Diechterliebe byRobert Schumann and Fidelio byL.v. Beethoven's extracts. In 2010 he sings the role title of Atys by Lully with Almazis of Iakovos Pappas at Megaron of Athens, and the role title of Actéon by Charpentier with Les Talens Lyriques conducted by Christophe Rousset at the Imperial Theater of Compiègne. He also appeared as tenor soloist in the Vespers to the Virgin by Monteverdi in Prague and in the Officium defunctorum and the Requiem for Auguste III by Jan Dismas Zelenka in Beaugency, which he recorded in Prague with the sound engineer Andreas Glatt for the German label Accent (publish in November 2010) conducted by Václav Luks (Collegium 1704). He sang as tenor soloist in the Great Mass in C by Mozart at the Festival Music in Morvan conducted by Pierre Cao.
Recently, Sébastian Monti could be heard as the Evangelist in St. John Passion (BWV 245) by J.S. Bach at the Philharmonic Hall of Berlin conducted by Gerhard Oppelt with Berlin Baroque; in the role title of Orphée by Gluck (original version of 1774) at the House of the Music of Nanterre conducted by Dominique Daigremont with Les Gouts Réunis; in the role of Apollon in the opera Le Pouvoir de l'Amour by Pancrace Royer at Montansier's Theater in Versailles conducted by Patrick Bismuth and in various music programmes at the festivals of Chaise-Dieu, Sablé, Ambronay, Pontoise, Poissy, Hamburg, Dresden and Prague.
