The American mezzo-soprano, Gloria Raymond, holds music degrees from the Cleveland Institute of Music and the University of Maine.
Gloria Raymond has extensive experience in a broad range of oratorio, opera, recital, choral and contemporary music performances. She has been a soloist with numerous ensembles throughout New England, including the Boston Symphony Orchestra, Boston Pops Orchestra, Collage Contemporary Music Ensemble, Boston Musica Viva, Pro Arte Chamber Orchestra, Portland Symphony Chamber Orchestra, Bangor Symphony, Mount Desert Summer Chorale, and Boston Aria Guild. She has participated in music festivals with the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra Institute, Boston Symphony Orchestra at Tanglewood, White Mountain Bach Festival (North Conway), Saco River Festival, and Berkshire Choral Institute. She has premiered works of Boston composers John Harbison, Donald Sur and Earl Kim, and has recorded contemporary works by William Thomas McKinley, Robert Kyr, Peter Child, Nancy Faxon and Charles Fussell.
For many years (since 1985) Gloria Raymond has been a soloist with Emmanuel Music of Boston, performing in their weekly Bach Cantata series, the Johannes Brahms and Schubert recital series, and in concerts of works by Heinrich Schütz, George Frideric Handel, and W.A. Mozart. She is also active in the Cantata Singers, Spectrum Singers Choruse and Cambridge Community Chorus. This season's performances include the Schubert Mass in E Flat with Emmanuel Music, Ludwig van Beethoven's Missa Solemnis with Music Worcester, and J.S. Bach's St. Matthew Passion (BWV 244) with the Cantata Singers.
Gloria Raymond is a full time budget and procurement manager at MIT, and she lives in Boxborough with John Ehrlich and their Crazy Cat Taz. |
